The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a concentration in Entrepreneurship provides students with a solid business background. Specific classes on various aspects of entrepreneurship allow students to fully develop their entrepreneurial spirit. The project and capstone course for the degree in entrepreneurship is to complete a business plan. Students develop an idea from thought to completion and after graduating are prepared to move forward with their idea to form a business.
The degree in entrepreneurship works closely with the Maverick Innovation Center for students to build their own products and businesses individually or with students from other disciplines. Students have more opportunities to put their entrepreneurial skills into action via The Point, a student-managed, on-campus business. Students also have the opportunity to join the Entrepreneurship Club (E-Club).

A foundation in accounting, management, marketing and finance provides students an opportunity to build a working knowledge of business. The entrepreneurship minor is intended for students in disciplines other than business who wish to begin small businesses in their major area. The minor will provide students with the basics needed as they face the exciting challenges of small business ownership.
Academic Requirements for Minor in EntrepreneurshipThe Certificate in Entrepreneurship is designed to expose students and prospective entrepreneurs to the beginning knowledge and skills needed to examine and evaluate entrepreneurship opportunities. The certificate will provide students with an overview of information they would encounter if they went on to earn the minor in Entrepreneurship or BBA concentration in Entrepreneurship, each of which more fully prepares people to operate their own small business.
Academic Requirements for Professional Certificate in EntrepreneurshipThe US is trending toward a 'gig economy' in which people are independent contractors often with multiple 'gigs' rather than working for one company for years. Students who understand entrepreneurship will be positioned to thrive in such an economy. Even if a person does not choose to start their own business, understanding the operations of a small business is critical since the vast majority of U.S. businesses are classified as small.

Entrepreneurship Day (E Day)
Each spring, CMU celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit through E Day. This annual event features a keynote speaker who is an innovative leader in their field. E Day also features breakout sessions highlighting local entrepreneurs and professionals; tying classroom theory to real-world experience.
The elevator pitch competition gives student entrepreneurs the opportunity to pitch their ideas at the keynote event, attendees vote for the best business plan and the winner receives a cash prize for seed money.
